Appointments and GREAT news!

Blair's appointments went really well on Tuesday. First, we saw the Pediatric Surgeon. He was so impressed with how well her O is doing. We will see them again in 6 months.

Next, we saw Dr. Lyle (Neonatologist). He was very pleased with her weight gain (7lbs 9oz) and didn't seem to mind that I quit adding the Nutramigin. He said as long as she's gaining weight and continuing to eat like she is then she will be fine. Actually, they were pretty amazed that she is up to 5oz in her bottles. Of course only 4 is the breastmilk and the other ounce is the Simply Thick. He did comment that she is still a fast breather. So, we had to go down to the Heart Center and get an EKG that same day. Now that her blood vessels are opening up to her lungs since she is getting older the VSD (hole in her heart) is letting in more blood to her lungs than what they want. It's easily fixable with Lasik (diurectic). So, she is now taking that once a day... just a very small amount. They also wanted us to ween her off the oxygen. They said that would also help to close her vessels a bit. Yesterday was the first day she was off the oxygen after taking her medicine. They want her to saturate at 95% or higher. At first she was right around 95/96 and right before she went to bed her sats were 100%. So, NO MORE OXYGEN!!!! WOO HOO! Now that she's off of the oxygen we can't really let her sleep on her stomach anymore. :( Last night she did really good at sleeping on her side and back. She fussed just a little more than usual, but other than that she did great! I'm sure they will be taking away the pulsox monitor soon so I don't need to be so dependent on it!

She is doing something new... when she wakes up she's in a super good mood and she will sit there and smile over and over when you talk to her and smile at her. And, she doesn't just smile normally she smiles with her entire mouth, tongue and all! It's so cute and Britt and his Mom got the biggest kick out of it.

Baylee got to swim at Mamaw's house while we were there. She loves being around her cousins and playing with the girls while we are there. While Blair and I were at the hospital ALL DAY Tuesday Mamaw took Baylee, Britt's Sister and her girls to see Kung Fu Panda. That's all she's been talking about!

Today Blair will receive the much dreaded shots! UGH! I'm NOT looking forward to it. I've already prepared Baylee that there will be a lot of crying while we are at the Dr's office. Not just from Blair, but from me as well!

I hope that everyone had a great weekend and is enjoying their week!

Hugs - Tiffany

OK, you've got to get a picture of that smile!

Of course, Ms. Rockstar did great at her appointments--did we expect anything else?

I hope they take that Pulseox away tomorrow--I hate the beeps! The freaking beeps! I taught myself how to silence those things awhile ago because sometimes you just can't take it any more.

Go Blair!

HATE the shots to the little kids and babies! It hurts us mommies more than it does them. Thanks for answering my question a few posts back--I was literally racking my brain trying to think of what the speech therapist actually would do--guess there's so much more that goes into getting kids well than I imagined--makes sense, though! Blair's "O" IS really looking a lot smaller. She and Baylee look like such happy sisters! Looks like you guys have been having a good summer!
