I think I could scream!

Yahoo... you guys get 2 posts in one day! So, Blair had her 1 year shots and checkup today. All was going great and they were telling me how great she looked. UNTIL... and I mean... UNTIL they told me she doesn't have a Spleen? WHAT? I know the look of shock was written all over my face. So, not only does she have her Omphalocele... a rotated heart... now a missing Spleen. And, like Dr. Cadle said it's good information to know going forward since the Spleen is the part of the body that holds all of the B-Cell White Blood Cells.

That means she will need extra vaccines when she gets older to help fight off any bad germs that her little body cannot fight off without her Spleen. I know people have to have their Spleen removed sometimes due to accidents and I've heard of people being born without kidneys. So, I know it's out there. Just didn't know it was in my neck of the woods... like our house!

There you have it! As if I need ONE MORE THING to worry about!

Hugs - Tiff

Good grief. Did they just find out OR are they just getting around to telling you?

No, they are just getting around to telling me! Same thing with her heart being rotated... she was born with that as well and has had SO many EKG's, ultrasounds of her heart and they "failed" to mention that as well. Just frustrated!

Shesh. You think they might have mentioned that when she was born. I'm glad they'll be able to treat it with just some extra vaccines and it won't be a huge ordeal.

Ugh! Sometimes you just wonder what the hell doctors are thinking! I can't imagine your frustration. I'm truly sorry for all that you have to go through... but praise God that nothing too serious has come from all of this!

You know, if she didn't have other things going on in that part of her body, I could see how this has gone completely unmentioned for the past 365 days. But... um, did they KNOW and think it didn't really matter to you?

I think you have every right in the WORLD to be frustrated. I'm seething for you.

So they just dropped that little nugget on you? Weather is good, she doesn't have a spleen. I think they might have told you in a little better manner.
