Crazy!

It amazes me what it's taking to bust our little rockstar out of jail! :) Today I met with a half dozen people trying to get her released early tomorrow. The Speech Therapist came by to let me know she's right on track and she's doing great. She gave me some information to take home and work with her on in the coming months. Physical Therapy came by to talk to us about milestones. They said she might not ever crawl (depending on when she has surgery). She might go straight to walking. Dr. Cosper (the Pediatric Surgeon) came by to talk to me and let me know they are no longer putting a "dressing" on her Omphalocele. This kind of concerned me a bit because it's not "hard" yet and hasn't fully grown skin over it. He said it smells kind of yeasty... I know gross huh? And, they want to let that dry out as much as possible. They are putting Nystacin (sp?) powder on it to keep it as dry as possible. They will wrap it for her ride home tomorrow and after that we have to take the wrap off. It still looks smaller to me... I know it's because she's getting bigger, but it looks much better than it did! I had to fill prescriptions today to take home with us. That was expensive. Wal-Mart pharmacy is horrible. Long story, but it had to do with the dressing changes that we are no longer doing. UGH! They gave the discharge nurse a hard time yesterday about getting those supplies through them and told her to call a home medical place to have them delivered. She already called every one available in our area and none of them deliver those kind of supplies. So, I'm not happy with them... but at least we are no longer doing dressing changes to have to worry about that. The nutritionist came by to talk to me about mixing her breastmilk/formula/thickner. Yes, I have a recipe to go by! We are mixing breastmilk, Nutramigen and thickner together! I also took a CPR class today!

I think that's about it. We are leaving at 6:30 in the morning to head to the hospital to pick up our little angel. It's been quite an adventure and we are SO thankful to all of the wonderful Dr's and nurses that took such great care of Blair. We couldn't thank them enough! The next post you will read we will be HOME!!!! YEA!!!!

Hugs - Tiffany
