St. Louis Appointment

Well, we have some REALLY good news!

First, Dr. Warner ROCKS!!! He is awesome and has finally given us a plan of action. He came in and examined Blair and was concerned with the base of her Omphalocele. Just because it's not very wide. He said right now nothing is triggering her abdomen to grow or expand for all of the intestines to go back in. He wants us to have a CT Scan done here in NW Arkansas and have the results sent to him. He wants to see exactly what is in her Omphalocele now that it has grown so much. After that we are looking at a FIRST of several closure surgeries sometime in January. The surgery will take place in St. Louis. The nurse said babies stay anywhere from 5-10 days after the surgery. During this surgery they will basically open up the base and remove some excess skin. He also talked about adding some Alloderm (like skin) to help close the muscles. Like I said this will be the 1st of several surgeries.

After Dr. Warner took some pictures of Blair's belly we met with the Occupational Therapist. She created a wrap to help protect everything and it also helps with her Omphalocele being so floppy. We spent about 2 hours just with the Occupational Therapist.

St. Louis Children's was GREAT and I have very good feelings about the surgeon and his staff. Nurse Stacy (the one I had been talking to on the phone) was wonderful!

So, that is our plan for now! Thanks to everyone for all of the prayers and encouraging words! I will post some pics of our trip later on.

Hugs - Tiffany

So glad to hear that you have a plan that makes you happy and that you have a staff that makes you feel good.

Those pics of St. Louis are great. I'm really gonna have to go there one of these days (I'll put it on the list).
